
Community colleges have always been at the cutting edge of educational and training needs for students, employees, and the variety of organizational stakeholders of a region. Online education is no different as community colleges forge new ways to expand access for college programs and the college experience. A critical outcome for community college online programs is to provide or improve access to the college/university educational experience for segments of the community that have typically been underrepresented. Community colleges need to examine online educational programs from a strategic perspective in relation to their mission and vision for the economic challenges facing the US and world in the 21st century and beyond.
